Our Story
William R. Rucker Jr. | Founder
Born and raised in a small town in North Carolina, William Rucker Jr.—known to most as Ruc—has always believed in the power of perseverance, creativity, and faith. The third of six children, he grew up without access to fancy gyms or modern equipment. Inspired by his childhood hero, Hercules, Ruc found creative ways to build his strength—lifting bricks, climbing trees, and training with whatever he could find. Those humble beginnings laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to fitness, discipline, and resilience.
After graduating high school, Ruc enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served with honor for 21 years before retiring in 2000. During his service, he also earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, while raising three beautiful, intelligent, and talented daughters. His post-military life led him through diverse experiences in the commercial sector, real estate, government service, and multiple entrepreneurial ventures.
Yet, above all his accomplishments, what drives Ruc most is his dedication to living a life that’s physically strong, mentally sharp, emotionally grounded, and spiritually centered. He calls these the four pillars of a balanced life, and they form the heart of his mission and message.
At 65 years young, Ruc continues to defy expectations—training, inspiring, and thriving in ways that many men half his age can’t imagine. As a Stage 4 prostate cancer survivor, he credits his survival to his unwavering faith and lifelong commitment to wellness.
Through Fit at 50 and Beyond, Ruc shares his journey and empowers others to take control of their health, one step at a time. Because while aging is inevitable, how we age is a choice.
